Canon Fic for The Great Gatsby
Early this morning, Nick invited me for some tea and then he invited me to come to his house later, but the peculiar thing was that he requested to not bring Tom. I didn’t really wonder why Nick asked such an odd question that contained absolutely zero context, but course I agreed to come over later since I had nothing else to do. Later that day, I put on my finest lavender hat and Ferdie, my chauffeur, drove me through the pouring rain to Nick’s house. Nick came from his front doors and greeted me at my vehicle with a friendly smile, and I asked, “Are you in love with me? Or why did I have to come alone?” Nick didn’t respond, he just asked Ferdie to spend an hour far away. We walked into his house and then into the empty living room, I glanced at Nick and for some reason his eye brows were raised and his eyes were wide open. I turned my head to the sound of knocking from the front door, I was shocked to see it was Gatsby, he was pale as death and his hands were deep in his white flannel suit coat pockets. We sat awkwardly in the living room, and I said, “I certainly am awfully glad to see you again,” Gatsby just stood there, hands in his pockets, leaning against the mantelpiece and sweat dripping from his forehead. He then muttered, “We’ve met before.” I looked at Gatsby’s eyes and they were racing between me and Nick. At this moment, a clock that Gatbsy was standing next to tilted and fell but Gatsby was able to catch it with his trembling fingers. To alleviate some of this awkward tension I said, “We haven’t met for many years,” and Gatsby responded with, “Five years next November,” this response created another minute or two of more awkward silence. After talking with Nick, both him and Gatsby got up and walked into the kitchen, I sat on the couch all alone with a little bit of regret that I even came. Gatsby entered the living room again, but this time without Nick and I wondered where he had gone. Gatsby and I ended up taking and catching up with each other, after an hour or so my face was smothered with tears of joy after reliving the past with Gatsby, and at this moment Nick quietly entered the living room again. After washing my face, it stopped raining and we all went outside of Nick’s house onto his well cut lawn. We then headed to Gatsby’s beautiful mansion so he could to show me around.

I like the way you used perspective in your blog. I also like the quotes you incorporated in your blog and I think it connects really well with what you are trying to say.
ReplyDeleteI like how you decided to take the perspective of Daisy in this situation. It's always interesting to think about what she was thinking about/what Gatsby was thinking about when they first met for the first time in years.
