My Warm and Fuzzy 10 Year Reading List

1. Light in August by William Faulkner: After reading a short synopsis of this novel, I found interest in it when I learned that it revolves around the themes of racial identity, racial prejudice, and social classes. These are meaningful and compelling topics that are interesting to read about. Previously, I have read titles such as Black Like Me and Just Mercy that also deal with similar topics about race, which is another reason I chose to add this novel to my list

2. All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr: I came across this title when I was browsing the list of summer reading books for 12AP. Unfortunately, I decided to read Heart Of Darkness instead which I deeply regret. For that reason, this is definitely a book that I will want to read in the future. I think the whole World War II plot about two very different people crossing paths is very interesting and I am curious to read what will happen

3. Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr: The first thing that caught my attention about this book was obviously the title. Additionally, Doerr writes about multiple stories about different people whose lives are 500 years apart. This unique plot was another reason to add this book to my list. It combines history, surrealism, and science fiction which is also very intriguing. Out of all the books in my list, this is definitely one that I am most looking forward to reading.

4. Catch-22 by Joseph Heller: after scrolling through multiple "Top 100" reading lists, this title was one that was repeated multiple times, which is why I decided to add it to my own list. It is also a World War II novel that focuses on the absurdity of war, and in the past, I have read may books about war so I think this book would be a good choice for me.

5. Piranesi by Susanna Clarke: When we did the complex relationships book clubs in the first semester, Piranesi was the book I chose as my second option so I think It would be fitting to add this to my list. When I read a short summary, I thought the plot was very compelling because the idea of a man being trapped in this ominous alternate dimension is very unique. It is very different compared to previous books that I have read, which is why I am willing to read this book.

6. Invincible comic book series by Robert Kirkman: this series of comic books is simply for my pure enjoyment. I have been watching the animated film series of Invincible on Amazon Prime Video and I just recently finished the most recent season. Overall, the T.V. series is without a doubt one of my favorite shows that I have ever watched (even though it is extremely graphic and disturbing at some parts). Since I have watched the animated series, I also want to read the comics. During winter break, I told myself that I was going to read the comics but that never actually happened, so I think adding this series to my list is a good idea.

7. Lord of the Flies by William Golding: Similar to Catch-22, this was also another title that appeared a numerous times on the different "Top 100 Novels" lists, which is why I decided to add it to my 10 year reading list. In addition, my older brother and my dad have both read this book and they strongly recommended reading it at some point

8. Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand: I started reading this book but for some reason I never finished it, which is why I want to stay committed and add this book to read in the future. This is another World War II book that I found interesting because it is actually a true story about an Olympic track star who has to survive as a prisoner of war.

30 In Cold Blood By Truman Capote Via Amazon

9. In Cold Blood by Truman Capote: I chose this book because it has an interesting plot about the murder of four members of a family that had no suspects or evidence. It is a nonfiction narrative that seems to have a lot of mystery and suspense. I also chose this novel because it revolves around topics and themes that still resonate in today's world and society

10. The Giver by Lois Lowry: another genre that I really enjoy reading is dystopian fiction. This is a classic dystopian novel that has a very interesting plot about a society where everything is predetermined and chosen for you. The plot and this type of dystopian society are different than other dystopian books that I have read which is why I am looking forward to reading this book.
